Sonam Kapoor’s Khoobsurat and Parineeti Chopra’s Daawat-e-Ishq released on the same day. On Friday, both the films hit the theaters but started off on a slow note. But that’s got nothing to with their secret battle. Well, the Kapoor lass and Ms Chopra were keeping a close watch on each other coz their films were all set to clash at the box office and both wanted to make sure they promoted their respective projects pretty well. While Sonam-Fawad Khan starrer managed to create great buzz, Daawa-e-Ishq lagged behind when it came to promotional strategy. That’s when Parineeti stepped in and here’s what happened
Effective marketing strategy
While Anil Kapoor’s beti went city hopping with her very hot Pakistani co-star to promote their filmKhoobsurat, Pari and Aditya Roy Kapur set out on a food yatra to market their gastronomical rom-com. The lead pair of Daawat-e-Ishq had many hush hush meetings with producer Aditya Chopra and together they came with this marketing strategy for their film. Before entering Bollywood, Pari worked in the marketing department of YRF, so its not surprising that she was involved in all these matters.
Turning social media savvy!
Though the Ishaqzaade actress has been on Twitter for a long time, she became super active to promote to her film Daawat-e-Ishq. While Sonam loves to share her pictures on Twitter and Instagram irrespective of the occasion, this time Parineeti decided to join the bandwagon. Before going to promotional events, the Shudh Desi Romance actor made sure to post her picture. Every day Priyanka Chopra’s sister revealed what was she wearing for the particular event. As for theAisha actress, the leggy beauty kept sharing pictures of her and Fawad on Twitter almost everyday.
Reason behind going the extra mile?
Well, both Sonam and Parineeti have already carved a niche for themselves but neither of them has given a blockbuster so far. At the box office, most of their films have done decently but then in Bollywood Rs 100 crore club also matters, hai na? Wethinks this time these two ladies went out of their way to promote their respective films also because much was depending on them. SinceKhoobsurat is Fawad’s Bollywood debut, Ms Kapoor obviously had to lead the promotional game. And though Adi is popular, Pari is more established as an actor, is known to be media friendly and is outgoing as well. So she had to take the plunge, no peeps?
